Insurance & Reinsurance Law

Insurance is a contract—commonly referred to as an insurance policy—under which the insurer undertakes to pay compensation to the insured for all or part of the losses the insured may suffer as a result of an accident, death, or other events covered by the policy, in return for the payment of an insurance premium. The purpose of insurance is to provide financial protection against unforeseen events, offering the insured security and peace of mind.

Reinsurance, on the other hand, is often described as insurance for insurance companies. It is a risk-management tool that enables primary insurers to transfer part of their risk exposure to other insurers, thereby protecting themselves from significant or unexpected losses that may exceed their financial capacity.
